PROGRAM FOR : FES TO SAHARA TRIP FOR 5 DAYS :

DAY 1:  FES - IFRANE - AZROU - ZIZ VALLEY - ERFOUD - MERZOUGA

Our Morocco excursion starts today and our All Over Morocco Tours driver will pick up you from your hotel and we can start 5 Day tour from Fes to Merzouga and Marrakech.  After breakfast we will depart for Merzouga through the Middle Atlas region. We will drive through Ifrane, the ‘Switzerland’ of Morocco and the cedar forests of Azrou where we can stop to hand feed the monkeys. We will continue to Midelt where we will have lunch. We will then follow the Ziz River through the valley and stop to see the Ziz Gorges on our way to Merzouga.

DAY 2: MERZOUGA AREA AND THE CAMEL TREK:

After breakfast, you can take a little exploration of the local area before the start of your camel trek and eventual night spent at the desert camp. Today, you’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations. You may also visit the nomad wire house where many Berber handicrafts are priced lower than in the big cities. On the afternoon you will mount your camel, guided by an experienced camel man to explore the golden sand sea of Merzouga. Dinner is under the stars in front of the tent where you will spend the night.

DAY 3:  MERZOUGA - TODRA GORGES - DADES VALLEY:

After having breakfast, camel trek back to the hotel at the dune line for a quick shower. We leave the Sahara desertdunes of Erg Chebbi, an off-road drive across the hamada -black desert to get to the Sahara town of Rissani, optional visit of the animated local market. Afterwards, we head north to Erfoud that is known for the fossils; here we can stop to visit a fossil workshop before we continue to the impressive Todra canyons, known for rock climbing, where you can hike before we check into to the hotel, Dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: DADES GORGE - BOUTAGHRAR - SKOURA - OUARZAZATE

After breakfast in the hotel we’ll drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaa M’gouna and Ouarzazate. The route through Dades Valley is the way of the thousand kasbahs - providing numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip. We’ll stop at Kalaa Mgouna, “the rose city”, to purchase the rosewater, which will make your linen smell good a long time after your trip is over.  Continuing onto Skoura and the dirds valley; you’ll visit the Kasbah Ameridil, a well-preserved Kasbah in this area. After some hiking in the valley and a restaurant stop overlooking the whole valley, for lunch, it’s onto Ouarzazate , “the Hollywood of Africa”, whose geography and beautiful landscapes has attracted many world class movie producers.  Here you may choose to visit the studios, containing props used in movies such as The Mummy, Gladiator.

DAY 5: OUARZAZATE - AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH - MARRAKECH:

After breakfast we will visit Taourirt Kasbah before departing to Ait Benhaddou to visit the World Heritage Site. We will continue with a visit to the traditional High Atlas Berber village of Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. We will have lunch in a local restaurant in Telouet before descending.. Your journey will continue through the majestic Tizi n’tichka Pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech.
